WHEN THEY GATHER 3

The pain was not something she was prepared to deal with. Sobbing uncontrollably, she sat opposite an ashen-faced Thomas who looked at her imploringly, tears running down his own face. His eyes occasionally darted to Mr Williams, beseeching, begging.

“How could you do this to us?” Theresa screamed at him. “I trusted you! I opened myself to you! I loved you in the best way I could and this is how you repay me? By sleeping with Karen?”

“That’s not..not t-t-t-r-ue” Thomas stuttered through a torrent of tears. “She lied against me! I would never sleep with__”

“Will you keep quiet?!”

Mr William’s voice thundered like a cracked gavel across the room. “Pictures do not lie! I personally know Karen – she would never give in to something that wasn’t offered to her. And she would not stoop so low to lie for no reason against Theresa. You’re the one lying here. Is this how you return our favor of trust, you wicked, decetiful stratgeizer? You must be out of your mind! I cannot allow you to have continued access to my niece “

Both stopped crying and faced the elderly man. “Huh?”

“That’s right, youngsters. This relationship ends here and now! I am going to contact all concerned parties and put an end to this rubbish!”

“No! No, please, no!” Theresa wailed afresh as she collapsed to the floor, sobbing.

This wasn’t happening. The memories they had shared together came rushing over her like a whirlwind and her heart almost felt like bursting. Where was she going to start from? She had been so sure Thomas was God’s will for her life. And now this? Her head began to spin.

Thomas had gone on his knees, begging and pleading with Mr Williams, who showed no sign of taking back his words. Theresa had been the best thing that happened to him since his parents separated and his mother passed away two years back. He had been thanking God all along their journey. Oh, why didn’t he listen to his conscience? Had he taken that extra time to pray on the day of the fateful kiss – a set-up devised by Karen – he won’t be wallowing in this mess! Oh Lord please, his heart cried.

I don’t wan’t to lose her!

Suddenly, Thomas heard a familiar voice in his spirit – for the very first time in a long time:

“Stop begging. You will get your wife back. Go home and get my Word. I will teach you what to do”.

He knew who this was. He stood up gently and thanked Mr Williams, who did not even offer a cursory nod. As his hand touched the door knob, he turned to Theresa who was now in a heap on the floor with puffy eyes and a vacant look.

“Theresa, I will come back for you. I love you very much, and I will fight for you”

And he was gone.

“Good riddance” Mr Williams hissed as he slammed his door. “Fight indeed. What a cheat”.

Watching the whole chaos unfold and nodding her head in total approval, Eyua inhaled deeply – as if to savour the scintillating aroma of her impending victory. The two prophets had no chance of being birthed if these two never got married. So far, things were going as planned. Eyua still wondered what the Almighty had been thinking when He gave humans the power of free will. To her, that was a mistake, one that she and her cohorts had used extensively for decades to populate the kingdom of darkness. This case wasn’t going to be different.

Lord Lucifer was going to be very, very pleased.

The Maker watched all happenings with a heavy heart. Had Theresa been more attentive to His gentle nudges se would not have to go through this rough patch. And Thomas…

But He always had a plan. And now was the time to make it happen.

“Send a message to the three helpers I have separated for this cause” He said softly.

The Holy Spirit immediately got to work.

And that very moment, three different people living miles apart from each other received a leading, a revelation and a dream respectively.

The message was the same.

The helpers understood and got to work, much to Eyua’s indignation.

“This is not happening!” Eyua raged uncontrollably. “The helpers must not be allowed to reach them both! I want reinforcements! Deceit, go! Hard-heartedness, get to work! Unforgiveness, stand at alert! We must secure this victory! Where are my enchanters?!”

As she raged, demons kept shooting around, carrying out tasks at incredible speed. Eyua inhaled sharply, breathing in the scent of dominion over her underlings. The coven was bustling and strategies were advancing. This was going to be a finished deal.

But a tiny detail had escaped her – and she had been too busy soaking up the energy her commands gave to notice. It was a quiet warning that had been given to her long before now, when she first got this assignment.

This little detail was going to be her major undoing.
